Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls {with salted-caramel glaze}

IMG_6872

I’m excited about sharing this recipe with you! I’ve been perfecting it the last couple of months and made them again yesterday for a ladies “book study” group. If a nearly empty pan is any indication of how good they are, then I would say these were a hit! =)

Sourdough Potato Bread

img_6335

This recipe is tried and true and so easy to make! Perfect fresh out of the oven lathered in softened butter (I hate trying to spread cold butter!) and jam. Or great for sandwiches, french toast…its got lots of possibilities.

When I was about 13 one of my friends introduced me to this bread and I loved it. I asked for some sourdough starter with high hopes of becoming a pro but yeah, the vision kind of died after a few weeks and so did my starter.

Here is the revised version of that recipe and I can say that I learned a lot since then!

I love working with dough.

Today I said goodbye to my sweet, talented, funny, beautiful, smart sister and sent her on a plane back home. I hate goodbyes so we kept it short and sweet. I miss her already.

She was here for a few weeks and I think I got spoiled. I need to learn how to be independent again! She’s such a cheerful person and added so much happiness to my life. I tend to take life pretty seriously sometimes and she always brightened even the dreariest day with her laughter and love for life. She loved on my kids and was so patient with them. If she was gone for even a few hours (or sleeping too late!) Declan was sure to ask about her… he benefited from her love for adventure.

I love you Alta! Come visit us again sometime =)

Sourdough Soft Pretzels

img_2192

I’m a little over the top with this whole Sourdough thing but its just way too much fun! Not to mention delicious. I’m working my way through converting my yeast recipes to sourdough and we are loving the results. It’s always fun to have other people try it so I can get a second opinion and perfect my recipes. These Soft Pretzels happened to be made for a ladies coffee get together at my sisters house. Everyone seemed pretty happy with them as they were so I wanted to share it with you! Glazed Sourdough Donuts

img_6215

So this happened yesterday! We had donuts until our hearts content and then some…the neighbors benefited from our over abundance. =) I’ve been a little crazy about sourdough the last few weeks. I love trying new things and sourdough has been so fun…artisan bread and sourdough waffles are some of our favorite things and last week I made sourdough Naan that was a hit. I have so many more things I want to try converting to sourdough! I’m far from an expertΒ but I’m learning. Continue reading “Glazed Sourdough Donuts”

Apple Pie Scones {with Maple Glaze}

img_6150

So I took a traditional scone recipe and fall-erized it. Think apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the most amazing maple glaze with more cinnamon. These taste like apple pie in the form of a flaky and buttery scone. These are melt in your mouth delicious.

Hearty Dinner Rolls

IMG_5491

Declan is constantly hungry and one of the things he asks for a lot is bread with butter and honey. So we combined a few of our favorite bread/roll recipes and came up with these hearty dinner rolls. The poppy seeds give them a crunch and the sunflower seeds add some great texture. Breads and dinner rolls are one of my favorite things to bake so I’m often experimenting with new recipes and techniques.

Mocha Cinnamon Rolls

IMG_5184

You up to trying something new? Cinnamon rolls without any cinnamon at all! These are the Chocolate/Espresso rolls that the guys came up with in Tennessee. I was craving them the other day so I tried re-creating them… I can’t say they are an exact copycat but they’ve got that same delicious mocha flavor.

We won’t mention the calories in these boys. Or how addicting they are. I’ll just say, make at your own risk!

Packed full of butter, these are soft and melt in your mouth.
