{Individual} Strawberry Pound Cakes

Today was one of those perfectly sunny, gorgeous days that felt like spring! After so many days of cold, the sun was truly therapeutic. I was sitting outside, watching Declan ride his bike when I started dreaming of a fruity dessert for tonight. The more I thought, the more I wanted it.  Continue reading “{Individual} Strawberry Pound Cakes”

Caramel Apple Crisp {for a crowd}

Lets talk about hospitality.

Are you one that feels like everything has to be perfect before you have guests? Its so easy to look around my home and notice the old couches, the miss matched lamps, the stains in the carpet, the ugly floor and tiled walls in the bathroom, not to mention the decor (or the lack thereof!) Or maybe you’ve had a busy week and really don’t have time (or the budget!) to make a five course meal PLUS clean your house from top to bottom.  Continue reading “Caramel Apple Crisp {for a crowd}”

Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

img_6399

Mom was the pie maker around home so when Frieda suggested a pie fundraiser for our local safe house, I was a little intimidated but we talked about it and decided to go for it. She worked at her parents bakery for many years so her confidence level was quite a bit higher than mine.

So this happened yesterday! We had donuts until our hearts content and then some…the neighbors benefited from our over abundance. =) I’ve been a little crazy about sourdough the last few weeks. I love trying new things and sourdough has been so fun…artisan bread and sourdough waffles are some of our favorite things and last week I made sourdough Naan that was a hit. I have so many more things I want to try converting to sourdough! I’m far from an expert but I’m learning. Continue reading “Glazed Sourdough Donuts”

Peanut Dark-Chocolate Granola Bars

IMG_5792

If you follow my blog at all, you know by now that I’m a huge fan of peanut butter and homemade granola bars! Combine that with dark chocolate and you have something amazing.

Sioux Falls just opened an Aldi grocery store and I am in love. You can’t beat their prices! I’ve been buying things that I normally can’t justify. I picked up a box of granola bars that I intended to pack in Stan’s lunch but boy oh, when I tasted those things, I knew they were for me! The box of 6 bars was gone way too fast so I kept it for the ingredient list and decided to come up with my own version…and I love them all the same or even more because homemade is always better, right?  Continue reading “Peanut Dark-Chocolate Granola Bars”

Grandma’s Caramel Pudding

IMG_5468

A Grandma is warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes. – Barbara Cage

Today I was thinking of my Grandma and her delicious Caramel Pudding and decided to give it a try again. I’ve almost given up hope that I’ll ever get it like hers. She was the pro of smooth caramel pudding! It brings back all sorts of nostalgic feelings and memories of family gatherings in her basement. She was a good cook and we feasted.  Continue reading “Grandma’s Caramel Pudding”
